
A VITEM VII is granted to the foreign citizen who intends to go to Brazil as Minister of religious confession, as member of institute of consecrated life, or as member of a congregation or religious order. In addition to the documents referred to in General Requirements, Visa Applications must be accompanied by the following document.
a) from the religious institution:
1) registration of its constitution in Brazil;
2) proof of power of attorney (or legal representation) of its director; and
3) term of responsibility of the entry in Brazil for the maintenance and departure from the national territory of the invited religious that this entity has invited.
b) from the religious:
1) declaration of ordination and/or academic records to prove theological formation;
2) curriculum vitae;
3) certificate of no criminal records or equivalent document;
4) where applicable, marriage certificate and birth certificate of dependants (or document certifying the link of dependency); and
5) where applicable, declaration that he or she will execute activities in indigenous areas only with the explicit authorization of the National Foundation for Indians (FUNAI).
A VITEM VII is valid for up to 1 (one) year and it may be extended in Brazil by request addressed to the Maritime, Aerial and Borders Police Division (DPMAF) 30 days prior to its date of expiry.
The Consular Section can only process VITEM VII applications for people who have been residing within its jurisdiction for at least one year.
In order to register with the Maritime, Aerial and Borders Police Division (DPMAF), bearers of a VITEM VII will receive one copy of the Visa Application Form. Bearers of VITEM VII must register with the Ministry of Justice within 30 (thirty) days of their arrival.
