VITEM-V

A VITEM V is granted to the foreign citizen who goes to Brazil as a professional under contract with a private company or with an organ of the direct administration (federal, state, or municipal).

A VITEM V will either be directly approved by the Immigration Division of the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations or it will be approved on the basis of a working contract sent by the General Co-ordination of Immigration of the Ministry of Labour (CGIg). Therefore, the Consular Section does not have authority to approve VITEM V. It is up to the contracting entity in Brazil to instruct the process to the CGIg.

Once the VITEM V is authorized, in addition to the documents specified in General Requirements, the applicant must also submit certificate of no criminal record and proof of compatible professional habilitation to the Consular Section.

The Consular Section can only process VITEM V applications for people who have been residing within its jurisdiction for at least one year.
