Transit Visas

Transit Visas are granted to foreign citizens who have to transit through Brazilian territory in order to reach their country of destination. This type of visa will not be required when the applicant has to make stops or connections in Brazil without leaving the transit area of the airport or port where this connection takes place.
Transit Visas are valid for one entry only for a maximum stay of ten days and they cannot be extended.

The Consular Section is authorized to process applications for Transit Visas independently of the place of residence of the applicant, provided that he or she submits the application personally, to the Consular Office.

Transit Visas can be processed by mail, by travel agents, and by third parties if the applicant resides within the jurisdiction of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Brazil in Port of Spain.

In certain cases, Transit Visas may depend on consultation with the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations. Therefore, early application is advisable.

In additional to the General Requirements above, applicants for Transit Visas must present:

  1. a valid visa for the country of destination;

  2. an air ticket for the country of destination;

  3. a return ticket;

  4. proof of financial resource compatible with the intended travel; and

  5. whenever deemed necessary by the Consular Authority an interview may be scheduled and additional documents may be requested.
